The paradise island of Mauritius is home to some of the world’s finest championship golf resorts, pristine white sands, and azure waters.

The island lies East of Madagascar, parallel to Cape Town, and enjoys a beautiful tropical climate all year long – the locals say to avoid just the last two weeks of July and February when it can be too humid, and there are chances of tropical storms.

Winner of the IAGTO Awards ‘Golf Destination of the Year 2019 for Africa, the Indian Ocean, and the Gulf States’, you will be hard-pushed to find a golf escape in a more beautiful setting.

The island boasts an eclectic mix of cultures, religions, and natural beauty. Along with magnificent beaches, Mauritius is peppered with soaring mountain peaks and dense rainforests and is a favourite spot for scuba divers.

Amongst the best golf courses on the island is Heritage Golf Club, providing mesmerizing views of the sea and Black River Gorges nature reserve, and Anahita Golf Course, designed by Ernie Els.

The beautiful island of Mauritius is an outstanding, unforgettable, and accessible golf holiday destination. If you’re looking for millionaire-style golf, pack your case and head to this tropical island.

Home to several stunning 5* beachfront hotels, it is easy to see why so many holidaymakers travel to this area of Mauritius. Heritage Le Telfair and Beachcomber Paradis are two of our favourite golf hotels in Mauritius, boasting their on-site golf course.

Where to start? The East has several outstanding courses; The Constance Hotel’s Legends and Links Courses, Anahita Golf Club, and the idyllic Ile Aux Cerfs. With white sandy beaches aplenty and this championship golf, it is hard to choose a favourite – why not indulge in a split stay and play all 4!?

Mauritius - Weather Guide:
As Mauritius is in the southern hemisphere, seasons are the opposite of those in the UK. Temperatures peak in the summer months, averaging between the high 20s and low 30s, whilst the winter season is slightly cooler. The evenings can be cool between July and August, so a light jacket may be required when sitting outdoors.

There's no real rainy season in Mauritius; however, there can be short downpours throughout the year, though they only last for a while. The main difference between Mauritius's east and west coasts is the winds – the east coast experiences trade winds in winter, which can be a welcome relief from the balmy temperatures. You'll find that the hotels on the east coast are designed with this in mind, with public areas protected from coastal winds.

The best time for a golf holiday to Mauritius is during the UK's winter months. You can escape the plummeting temperatures at home and the impending shorter days for idyllic beaches and tropical Indian Ocean sunshine.

Mauritius can be enjoyed all year round, with slight fluctuations in temperature throughout the year. Travel in April and September is popular, benefiting from slightly lower pricing and quieter golf courses.

However, if seafood differs from your liking, many other restaurants have various cultural foods.

After The Golf:

Split Up Your Stay:

With so many great golf courses and hotels on the island of Mauritius, why not spend time at more than one resort?

This is the perfect way to chalk off several of the world’s best golf courses in one visit. You might even discover your “forever golf holiday” and find the golf course you want to visit repeatedly.

Water Sports:

With piercing blue water in every direction, it is tough to resist diving in and channelling your inner Michael Phelps.

With direct access to such beautiful waters, many Mauritian hotels offer courtesy use of their paddleboards, windsurfing boards, kayaks, pedal boats, and snorkelling equipment.

There are also complimentary daily glass-bottom boat trips, allowing you to see all the water wildlife from the comfort and dry of the boat.
