It does not get much better than a Portugal golf holiday, with championship golf courses galore surrounding the popular golfers' resort of Vilamoura and a huge selection of courses and hotels dotted throughout the most famous golfing areas, the Algarve.
From the golf-rich regions of the Central Algarve, including Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo and Vilamoura, to the stunning Tavira in the East along with Alvor and Lagos in the West. There is a selection of golf resorts, golf hotels, and golf courses to suit everyone.
Vilamoura has been the golf break capital of Europe for many years, and with numerous championship golf courses within a short shuttle distance from your hotel, great restaurants, busy bars, and a stunning marina - it is easy to see why!
The Algarve has some hidden gems to explore. We highly recommend staying in the Eastern Algarve, where the scenery is spectacular; it is more of an authentic Portuguese experience, the golf courses excellent and real value for money.
Lagos in the Western Algarve is another favourite of ours, a traditional cobbled street seaside town with real character and great for combining a game of golf and a beach break all in one. You can play excellent golf courses from Lagos, including Palmares and Boavista, whilst close to Vilamoura if you wish to sample golf in this area.
Suppose you want to stay and play at a golf resort in Portugal, where you need to walk onto the first tee after breakfast. In that case, our recommendations include the Penina Golf Resort with an 18-hole Championship course on site, Pestana Vila Sol with 27 holes onsite, magnificent Monte Rei with Jack Nicklaus signature design on your doorstep or the all-inclusive Robinson Club with the 36 holes at Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima onsite.
Overall, it's easy to see why Portugal and the Algarve are still Europe's number one golf break destination.
