Home of the capital city, Cardiff, South Wales is a hub of Welsh culture, sport and entertainment. On a golf break here, you can sample first-class shopping, museums and of course golf! You could also watch a game of rugby at the Millennium Stadium! There are big fun resorts, whilst the coastal cliffs and tranquil Vales are full of charm. Well worth a golfing holiday in South Wales and why not give Ryder Cup venue Celtic Manor a try?

Popular Golf Courses In South Wales:

  • Celtic Manor
  • Pontardawe Golf
  • Earlswood Golf
  • Cottrell Park Golf
  • Peterstone Lakes
Celtic Manor is a true test for the best of golfers but forgiving enough for a beginner to the game. The course meanders along the side of the Valley providing changes in elevation to expose some amazing views of the virtually untouched land on and around the golf course.

Pontardawe golf course, a mixture of parkland and mountain, is just over 6100 yards, Par 70, and provides a good challenge for golfers of all standards.

Earlswood golf course is a well established 18 hole Pay-as-you-Play course with par 3, 4 and 5’s water hazards and bunkers. This family run course is maintained to a very high standard all year round with main greens and grass tees in use Summer and Winter. This par 68, 5174 yard course is a challenge for the novice or experienced golfer with fantastic views across Swansea bay and Mumbles.

Cottrell Park has 2 Golf Courses. The Mackintosh course offers a completely different golf challenge to the Button Gwinnett and is designed around the original features of the historic parkland trees. The course again boasts some water features, with several doglegs and finishes with a strong Par 4 18th hole. To have two different courses on the same resort is unique. The magnificent Button Gwinnett Course with its rolling views of the Vale, is a little gem. Based more on an American design with a number of water features spread over the 18 holes, this course offers challenges for all categories of golfers.

Peterstone Lakes is a stunning 18 hole golf course set in acres of peaceful Welsh countryside, just outside Cardiff. The course was designed by Bob Sandow and is a par 72. It is a fair but challenging flat course with plenty of water hazards en route.

South Wales - Weather Guide:

The best times to visit South Wales for ideal weather are June 25th to August 26th based on average temperature and humidity from NOAA

Not famous for warm weather, South Wale can however be gorgeously warm in the sunshine, so we do recommend a visit at this time. Of course, if you prefer a less crowded course and a lower green fee, the best time to golf in South Wales is autumn or spring.
