Bridlington Golf Tour

Book a golf break on the East Coast of Yorkshire and stay at the Bridlington Belvedere Hotel. A great place to stay when on a golf break on the East Coast and some great deals here too!

Designed in 1905 by 5 time Open Champion and former Ryder Cup Captain J. H. Taylor to improve golf in Bridlington. The original course was formerly part of the Hilderthorpe Hall Estate. The land was obtained on a lease from local land owner J. W. Pitt. The first recorded membership fee was in 1907 when £21.2s ensured a full year’s enrolment. A visitor paid 2s. 6d. A day.

In 2014, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the then owners of the land on which the course stands, in recognition of the huge income that golf generates by way of visitors to Bridlington, offered for sale the Freehold of the course back to the club. So began 5 years of negotiation, which culminated in contracts, for the sale of the land and building of a new 19 bedroom hotel, being exchanged in December 2018.

Building works on the hotel and golf associated facilities commenced in December 2018 and are now open for business!

Whether before or after your golf you can relax in the impressive bar, lounge or restaurant areas. Enjoy stunning views of the golf course. These spacious areas are considered to be the perfect place to relish an after-golf snack or meal, lunch, afternoon tea or Sunday lunch.

The facilities.

Include “The Mulligans Bar” a separate Spikes Bar, which displays the history of current and past club winners. In an area used by visitors and member golfers, where you can enjoy a drink, and recount their days play, the great shots made, those missed puts and the lucky or unlucky outcomes that golf sometimes delivers us.

The facilities also feature a wonderful west facing patio area, which offers the opportunity of sitting outside to enjoy the scenic views of the course, under the beautiful Yorkshire Coast skies, whilst enjoying a meal or a drink in the open air.

A dedicated snooker room, with two full size tables, is also available for members and guests and the facility includes a large private Golf Club car park.

Filey Golf Course
Filey Golf Club was established in 1897. The original course was situated on land to the north of this fine old North Yorkshire fishing town.

The course moved to its present site on the south side of town two years later. The design of the “new links” is credited to James Braid and examples of his design features can be seen on the course.
It has been suggested that Dr. Alister Mackenzie, during his period of residence in Leeds, made amendments to the original design.

During his period as club professional at nearby Ganton, Harry Vardon would often play challenge matches over the Filey Course with his fellow Channel Islander Fred Beck, the Filey Club Professional.

The course has been modified over the years to take into account modern technology but still retains the original Braid layout.

The purchase of adjoining land has allowed the club to incorporate a 9 hole short course into its facilities. This “Academy” course is proving popular with beginners and visitors who do not wish to play the main course. (Separate membership is available for the Academy Course at greatly reduced rates to encourage newcomers to our great game.)

The old clubhouse has been replaced with a modern building (2002) to cater for the needs of members and visitors.

The welcome you receive at Filey Golf Club has not changed over the years. We hope you will continue to visit our fine Club and Course.

Flamborough Golf Course
The golf course provides both a good test of your golfing skills and an enjoyable experience for Members and Visitors of all abilities throughout the year. The unwary can be forgiven for standing on the 1st tee and being deceived by the apparent gentleness of the view across the course.
The Course & Clubhouse are surrounded by magnificent and panoramic views of the North Sea including both lighthouses, the original of which, known as the Old Beacon, was built circa 1674, and is the only known example in England and can be found on the course next to the 5th tee.
If you’ve tried the rest, our challenge is for you to try one of the best.
You won’t be disappointed!

Scarborough North Cliff Golf Course
Course was designed by the celebrated Scottish golfer and five times winner of the British Open Championship James Braid (1870 – 1950). Braid, born in Earlsferry, Fife, won his first Open title in 1901 and went on to become the first of ‘The Great Triumvirate’ of Braid, Harry Vardon and J H Taylor to win 5 titles (1903, 1905-6, 1908 and 1910).

Horace Hutchinson said that Braid had a ‘drive with divine fury’ and he pioneered the explosion shot from sandy bunkers. (Photo by Evening Standard/Getty Images)

Although Scarborough North Cliff Golf Club dates back to 1909, the present course was designed by James Braid and established in 1928.

A fabulous photo which we’ve been made aware. It is taken at where North Cliff Golf Club was originally located, the site of what was later Mr. Marvels (Zoo & Marineland) and the Open Air Theatre, looking down over Peasholm Park.
