Findagolfbreak team member Sarah-Louise, was recently asked to join a familiarisation (FAM) Trip to Tenerife. This included seeing many of the great hotels and golf courses this Canary Island has to offer. Read Sarah's golf blog here:

Hotel Suite Villa Maria

If you’re looking for your home away from home, then this is the place. Anyone lucky enough to discover Hotel Suite Villa Maria will be torn between wanting to spread the word about this gem nestled in Costa Adeje and wanting to keep it a secret.

There are few places that immediately feel so warm and welcoming.

The service is impeccable and if you’re feeling extra indulgent on your stay the Champagne is always on ice at breakfast!

Costa Adeje
Former stomping ground for the DP World Tour Professionals, Costa Adeje Golf sets a high standard and challenge to all golfers. Adapting the course to the existing terrain, the former banana plantation has anyone who plays it in owe of its natural beauty and backdrops of the Atlantic, mountains of Adeje and the island of La Gomera. FOMO, book in quick, it’s in high demand! (Fear Of Missing Out) for the non-millennials.

Abama Golf and Terraces
One of my favourites, the Abama course is perfectly manicured. With endless sea views and elevated tees, it is the ultimate experience and challenge.

Abama Golf

Alongside staying on site in the Abama Terraces, a hop, skip and a jump to the course itself. You stay in spacious, fully equipped 5* luxury apartments with breakfast and dining on site at the Melvin Restaurant. Your truly in for a treat, menus have been designed by Michelin starred-chef Martín Berasategui.

Hotel Jardin Tecina & Tecina Golf, La Gomera
I have to say, it is rare to have top hotel’s, golf courses and even islands near each other. The Island of La Gomera, the not-so-secret gem, hosting many Challenge Tour Events over the years is a 45-minute Fred Olsen Ferry ride away from the island of Tenerife. Let’s set the scene, at first glimpse it feels like you could sight the odd dinosaur amongst the lush and vas terrain. An incredibly natural paradise that hosts only one golf course, Tecina Golf and the 4-star resort of Hotel Jardin Tecina. The Island is calming and authentic to its surroundings.

No harsh chemicals are used on the golf course making it feel wild but true to itself. An honest test of golf with incredible views of the Atlantic and Tenerife, the course descends on different terraces, giving it a unique stepped design.

You may think this is extra hassle for your Tenerife golf holiday but the incredible staff at Tecina don’t want you to miss out on their wonderful Island and therefore arrange your ferry and transfers, making it an effortless excursion.

Golf del Sur
Nestled on the southern coast, Golf del Sur has a lot of striking features and is set to challenge most golfers due to the prevailing wind. Reverting to an 18hole golf course (North & Links) it comes with many tricky borrows and incredible volcanic sand bunkers protecting the greens. The clever layout does provide you with wide fairways lined with an array of indigenous plants, pleasing to the eye but also gives us golfers a bit of breathing room for those nonintentional wayward shots. Love it or hate it, the course is built on a flight path. I thought it added to the character, having the planes coming into land at the neighbouring (TFS) airport.

The roaring sound you get used to and unknown to me, most planes have unique designs on their underbelly that you wouldn’t get the pleasure of seeing being a passenger.

Barcelo Tenerife
Talk about convenience and luxury all in one. A mere 10 minutes from Tenerife Sur Airport, 5 minutes from Golf del Sur, you have this 5* Resort overlooking the ocean.

The 272-room hotel consists of many facilities to keep you busy, including 7 pools if you don’t fancy a dip in the sea. For me, the all-inclusive package added to the experience and made my stay effortless. Inspiration for the build and decoration of the hotel has been pulled from the environment, with the aim to blend into the landscape reducing its environmental impact and maintaining its commitment to sustainable tourism.

I loved it and I am sure you will too!
