The property was acquired by Charles Bouge at the end of the 18th century and held by his family until 1979, the date when it was bought by Sean Connery.
Terre Blanche is the story of a development inspired by a passion and a desire to share it with others without disturbing the fragile balance of nature. A resort designed to be kind to the environment and developed in close consultation with French and international stakeholders in economics, tourism and sport.
Terre Blanche unfolds across 300 hectares of primary forest without overwhelming its surroundings. Everything has been designed to conserve the natural vegetation and ensure the resort blends in with the villages of the Haut-Var. The environment approach that has been taken to the resorts architecture and construction make it a true ecological success story.
It has also been an economic success for the Canton of Fayence, with the creation of hundreds of jobs directly and thousands more indirectly. Terre Blanche worked in partnership with local stakeholders right from the start of the construction process and continues to do so in its day-to-day operation.

Golf:
Terre Blanche was opened in 2004 and has two internationally renowned golf courses – Le Chateau and Le Riou - as well as the only training centre of its kind in Europe, where the very best teaching methods are used. Thanks to state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly facilities, Terre Blanche has GEO® (Golf Environment Organisation) accreditation and, in 2018, was voted the Best Golf Resort in Continental Europe by the well-respected Golf World UK magazine.
Here, nature provides the inspiration for the courses; valleys, lakes, ravines, waterfalls, forests… Golf architect Dave Thomas skilfully preserved the existing contours and natural features of this magnificent site. His signature bunkers with their indented edges are a feature of both courses.
Terre Blanche has just been ranked 10th in the very first world ranking of the 100 best golf resorts by GOLF WORLD (UK), alongside such renowned resorts as Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Turnberry, and Gleneagles.
Le Chateau 18-hole Course
This demanding 6,616m 18-hole course, offers exciting challenge for ambitious golfers. The bunkers, greens, and flag positions give a true taste of the game at a Championship Course. In 2017, Le Chateau was ranked 14th by Golf World Magazine UK’s Best Courses in Continental Europe.
Le Riou 18-hole Course
