Bellavista golf course my experience. Modest but practical facilities, with a provisional pro shop next to the car park. Attentive and very friendly staff. A good driving range and a good putting green and a smaller chipping area next to it. Bellavista golf course is typically a member’s golf course with good overall maintenance. The greens are of good size, slightly wavy and firm. A parkland golf course, which takes advantage of the natural contours of the land and which presents the traditional difficulties of trees flanking the fairways, good location of bunkers on the fairways and protecting the greens, several dog legs and 5 par 3, 4 of them with elevated greens. A single hole has water protecting the green. For the quality of the maintenance and the friendliness of the staff, a pleasant golf course where any player can enjoy a pleasant day.

The excellent layout is a regular on the Challenge Tour, but the highlight for Islantilla came in 1995 when it was chosen to welcome the PGA European Tour`s best for the Turespana Masters, won by Alex Cejka. This rise to prominence was underlined in the year 2000, when the respected publication, Golf Digest, included Islantilla in its list of Europe`s top 100.
The course is divided into three separate nine-hole rounds, so the combinations created offer welcome variety. Known as the Yellow, Green and Blue fields, all three courses offer players breathtaking views of the sea, with the backdrop of magnificent pine forests that adorn the landscape atop the cliffs. The legacy left by James Braid, Philip Mackenzie Ross and Charles Mayo, in shaping a design across the Breckland heathland over 100 years ago, is surely one they would be proud of today.
The modern course winds its way through a forest of pine, oak and birch, and between heather, gorse and broom. Using the natural land, and respecting our SSSI status, it’s a course in harmony with its forest and heathland surroundings. It visually challenges and stimulates, while delivering a fair golfing test for all.
The par 72 course, at 6,849 yards layout with a slope rating of 134 from the back tees is rated just outside Golf World’s English top 100.
Crisp, firm and dry playing conditions are what to expect from this heathland gem. It means the course is open and playable almost every day of the year.
