The Strand Course

PAR 72, 7,118 YARDS

What can be said of the mighty Strand Course? Dubbed as ‘the sleeping giant’, do you dare to tackle it! It is without doubt one of the very top true links golf courses in Ireland. It easily stands alongside the two Ulster Royals, Portrush and County Down. The brainchild of Willie Park Jr and Des Giffin, ably assisted by undulating dunes, the run off bunkers, rolling fairways and tricky manicured greens.

A ‘true test of golf’ is a much overused phrase, but in this case it is a reflection of the variety and ingenuity of the shots required to get round this masterpiece of a golf course.

The views from almost every hole are quite simply, magical. The Atlantic is never very far away and the beauty of the course has to be seen to be believed. It is a treat that will take a very long time, if ever, to fade from the golfers memory. The jewel in the Portstewart crown.

The Old Course
PAR 64, 4,822 YARDS
Where it all began in 1894! The Old Course is an institution in its own right; the front 8 holes are perched along the rocky shore, east of Portstewart town on the Portmore Road heading to Portrush with the back 10 on the landward side. A great wee track especially good for groups, holidaymakers and golfers just starting out. Walk the historic fairways that have been tracked since 1894.

The Riverside Course
PAR 68, 5,725 YARDS
A beautiful riverside Course with holes meandering along the banks of the River Bann.
A great challenge and Course in its own right, the Riverside is a perfect group/society course and also perfect for those who are not up for the mightiness of The Strand on any given day!

Dunlunce Links
Proud host to the 148th and 153rd Open Championships, the Dunluce Links is recognised as one of the top 10 golf courses in the world and known for its challenging greens.

The Dunluce Links is rated as one of the most challenging and spectacular links courses in the world.

The Links is named after the nearby ruins of the medieval Dunluce Castle located on the edge of a basalt outcropping overlooking the sea between Portrush and Portballintrae.

The result is a magnificent layout providing a fair and scenically stunning challenge for golfers to enjoy.

Valley Links
Situated beside its more famous sister course, the Valley is considered one of the great hidden gems and is a must play as part of any visit to Royal Portrush.

On lovely natural seaside turf, the Valley is a full-length championship course of 6,346 yards from the Championship tees. On this course, one of the two qualifying rounds in the North of Ireland Open Championship is played annually.

The course is situated in sheltered country in the War Hollow.

Nonetheless, the natural hazards are such as to make this course a really stern test for the low-handicap golfer and accuracy is needed in the approach shots to the small and cleverly sited greens.
